Congratulations to the ECS Class of 2019!
The 24 members of the ECS Class of 2019 were accepted to 21 colleges and universities, from which they were awarded a total of $1,134,500 in scholarships over the next four years. Their matriculation plans and scholarship awards are listed below.

Nadia Paige Anderson-Nadia was accepted to Howard University and Spelman College. She plans to attend Howard University in Washington DC, from which she received a $5,000 merit scholarship.
Emilee Kate Bowling-Graduating Summa Cum Laude with Classical Distinction and honor roll. Plans to attend Huntingdon College in the fall; she was also accepted to Auburn University and The Univ of Alabama. Emilee is the recipient of the Searcy scholarship for $15,000 per year. She was also accepted into the Presidential Fellows program at Huntingdon with a $5,000 per year additional scholarship, for a total of $80,000.
Stacey Kate Bozeman-Graduating with Classical Distinction, She was accepted to UAB, University of Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Alabama, Troy, and AUM. She plans to attend The University of Alabama at Birmingham in the fall.
Peyton McKenzie Brown-Graduating Summa Cum Laude with honor roll. She plans to attend The Univ of Alabama in the fall, from which she was awarded the Recognition Scholarship for $8,000 over four years. She was also accepted to Auburn University, Troy University, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Alabama at Huntsville, and Mississippi College. From these colleges and universities, Peyton was awarded a total of $86,000 in scholarships.
Elizabeth Grace Claxton- Graduating Summa Cum Laude with Classical Distinction and honor roll. Elizabeth was accepted to Auburn University and Troy University, and she plans to attend Auburn University in the fall, from which she received a total of $8,000 in scholarships.
Robert Jackson Cole-Jackson was accepted to Huntingdon, Auburn University Montgomery, UAB, Birmingham Southern, Troy University, University of South Alabama, and Montevallo. He plans to attend Huntingdon College in the fall, from which he received scholarships of $42,000 over four years. He hopes to transfer to film school after his sophomore year at Huntingdon.
David Chadwick Conoly- A 13-year graduate, Chad is Graduating Magna Cum Laude with Classical Distinction. He plans to attend Auburn University in the fall, but he was also accepted to Samford, Troy and AUM. Including scholarships from these universities, Chad was awarded a total of $40,000.
Elena Beatriz Elwell-Graduating Summa Cum Laude with honor roll, Elena plans to attend Auburn University in the fall. She was accepted to both Auburn and UAB, from which she received a total of $76,000 in scholarship moneys, including the Claranne M. Bush Scholarship and a chorale scholarship from Auburn.
Jinhee Ham-Jinhee Ham has been at Eastwood for two years, completing all assignments, including thesis and her senior speech, in her second language, English. She plans to return this next year to Korea to spend time with family and make plans to attend college in the U.S.
Taylor Stewart Hamilton- Taylor will be attending Troy University in the fall, from which he received the Chancellor’s award of $40,000.
McKenzie Grace Higginbotham-Graduating Summa Cum Laude with Classical Distinction and honor roll, McKenzie is also co-salutatorian and a 13-year graduate. McKenzie was accepted to Auburn University and Samford University, from which she was awarded $92,900, including awards from DYW program. She will attend Samford in the fall.
Martha Adelaide Howard-Graduating Summa Cum Laude with Classical Distinction and honor roll, Adelaide is a 13-year graduate. She was accepted to the University of South Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, from which she received a total of $32,000 in scholarships. She will attend UAB in the fall.
Margaret Abigail Ingels-Graduating Magna Cum Laude with Classical Distinction, Abigail was accepted to The University of Alabama, UAB, UAH, University of South Alabama , University of North Alabama , and Montevallo. She was also accepted to Wolverhampton University and Staffordshire University, both of which are in England, and she will attend Staffordshire in the fall. She was awarded a total of $28,000 from the colleges to which she was accepted.
Emily Victoria Jones-Emily is graduating Summa Cum Laude with classical distinction. She was accepted to Mississippi College and Samford University, from which she received a total of $89,000 in scholarships. Emily will attend Samford in the fall.
Susan Grace Kocher-Gracie is graduating Summa Cum Laude with Classical Distinction and honor roll. She is also Co-Salutatorian. Gracie was accepted to Samford University and Belmont University, and she will be attending Samford in the fall, from which she received $76,000 in scholarships.
Alyssa Lauren Lemire-Alyssa was accepted to The University of Alabama at Birmingham, The University of Alabama, Auburn University, and Troy University. She will be attending Troy University in the fall.
Ashlyn Leigh Lovelady-Ashlyn is a 13-year senior graduating Summa Cum Laude with Classical Distinction and honor roll. She is also Valedictorian. She was accepted to Troy University and Auburn University. She will attend Auburn in the fall, from which she was awarded $64,000 in scholarships.
Michael Rene Parker, Jr.- Michael is graduating with Classical Distinction. He was accepted to Troy University, Auburn University, and Auburn at Montgomery, from which he received $56,000 in scholarships. He plans to attend AUM in the fall.
Samantha Marie Peel-Graduating Summa Cum Laude with honor roll, Samantha was accepted to Auburn University and The University of Alabama, from which she received a combined $44,000 in scholarships. She will attend Auburn in the fall.
Madalyn Rose Pilcher- Graduating Summa Cum Laude with Classical Distinction and Honor roll. She was accepted to Troy University and University of South Alabama from which she received a combined $22,000 in scholarships, along with an Air National Guard scholarship of $40,000. She will be taking a gap year to complete training for Air National Guard after which she plans to attend Auburn University.
Ross Charles South- Graduating with Classical Distinction, Ross plans to attend Marion Military Institute Early Commissioning Program for 2 years before transferring to complete the Army ROTC. Ross was awarded a combined $142,000 from college, private, and military sources.
Lauren Nichole Taff-Lauren is graduating with Classical Distinction. She will soon begin technical school with an apprenticeship in cosmetology.
Robert Dinning Thorington III-Bobby is graduating Summa Cum Laude with Classical Distinction. He was accepted to Auburn University, Samford University, Birmingham Southern College, The University of South Alabama, and The University of North Alabama. He received a combined $71600 in university and private scholarships, and he will attend Auburn University in the fall.
Anna Kees Watson-Anna is graduating with Classical Distinction. She will be attending The University of Alabama at Birmingham in the fall.
