Dr. Celeste Granthum

Celeste Granthum has twenty-eight years of experience in education, twenty of that in Montgomery Public Schools. She worked in middle school grades for nineteen and a half years. She taught seventh grade honors mathematics at Baldwin, Arts and Academics Middle School and before that was the sole fifth grade mathematics teacher at Dalraida Elementary School. For three and a half years, she was a clinical assistant professor in the School of Education at Auburn University in Montgomery where she taught the math methods class for preservice teachers, both elementary and secondary. She has an undergraduate degree in elementary education from Auburn University Montgomery, a master’s degree in elementary education from Troy University Montgomery, an education specialist’s degree in elementary education from Auburn University in Montgomery and in 2016, she earned a doctorate from Auburn University in elementary education. She is certified in both elementary and middle school mathematics. She believes that all students can be successful in math, and has high expectations for her students. Her goals are to develop in all students a life-long love of math and to help them obtain proficiency in both critical and mathematical thinking. She loves working with middle school students and is passionate about teaching math. She and her husband Luke have three grown children, and two grandsons. They are active members of First Baptist Church. She enjoys reading, visiting flea markets, and spending time with her family.
